Two hand-painted porcelain figurines, both marked 'Japan' on the base, indicating Japanese origin, likely produced between the 1920s and 1950s. The taller figurine depicts a man and a woman dressed in colonial-style attire, with the woman wearing a green shawl and white dress and the man in a red coat and breeches. The companion figure portrays a male musician, seated or kneeling, in a red coat holding a scroll or musical instrument. Both pieces are decorated with simple brushstrokes and muted glazes. The bases show unglazed openings, typical of Japanese export porcelain from the era. These figures, standing approximately 3 inches tall, reflect the popular themes and export styles from Japan pre- and post-World War II, appealing to collectors of decorative miniatures and porcelain figural art.
